Recessed Outlets are the Change You Need

Have you heard about recessed outlets, but aren’t sure if they are the right choice for your household? Recessed outlets can be very helpful for modern homeowners, but it isn’t always easy to know which electrical upgrades offer the most benefits. At Mr. Electric of Dallas, we offer premium commercial and residential electrical services for local North Texas customers including recessed outlet installations, repairs and replacements. If you are unsure whether upgrading to recessed outlets is best for your family, then read below for some helpful information.

Why Are Recessed Outlets Becoming a Popular Choice for Homeowners?

Recessed outlets offer a lot of rewards for property owners. They help keep plugs safety tucked away, which can help people avoid dangerous falls. They are great for managing cables and wires behind a wall mounted flat-screen TV or on a kitchen island. Recessed outlets can also upgrade outlets inside the bathroom or outdoors, where they can help avoid exposure to the elements.

How Are Recessed Outlets Installed?

Installing a recessed outlet is very similar to installing a conventional unit. First, it is essential that the electrical power is turned off. Otherwise, it could put people at risk of electrocution, personal injury or electrical fires. Then the existing outlet cover will need to be unscrewed, carefully removed and safely disconnected from the wiring. Once the outlet box has been properly removed, then the new one can be installed. In some cases, the drywall may need to be trimmed to size according to the appropriate measurements. The new outlet will need to be connected to the electrical system, making sure the wires are correctly attached to the screws. Finally, the new cover plate and trim will need to be added, before restoring power and testing the outlet to see if all went well.
